Prayer Request

I have a friend who has requested prayers.
J. has asked us to pray for Liz Crowley. She has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. She has a six year old daughter and her hubby just returned from a middle east deployment. She is scheduled for a biopsy tomorrow. Please keep her in your prayers that our Lord will comfort her and our Lady will keep her close during this struggle.

Rocks For Brains

Just finished reading A Story of A Soul, the autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux. I cannot put into words that make sense, how this book effected me. I know I must read it again, and soon, to really grasp the greatness of this Little Way.

JOT will be happy to learn that only 3 months later (she lent it to me in October) I have finally started Salvation Is From The Jews. I am only a few pages in and I am enjoying it very much. It is opening up the Gospels and is just what I was looking for to jumpstart my New Year. I have read the Gospel's before, but there is just too much there to take in all at once. These books help to open them for me.

Thanks to my hubby, I have also added the Imitation of Christ to my nightly prayers. This is much more of a mediation than a book. It is slow going as I am asking the Lord to help them sink in. Sometimes I feel like a diamond. Not in the beautiful way we know diamonds, but in the fact that it is the hardest rock on the earth. I hope this year to be more absorbent. For the Gospels, the prayers, the peace of Christ to sink in and remain. Like a sponge, except no squeezing here. I want to retain, retain, retain. When I am in the midst of spiritual reading I feel like my little pea brain can't hold it all. That is very frustrating. I make little silent prayers like, you know, help me to use that other 90% to retain! ;)

Operation Christmas Card

I found this over at SITSA, Please participate if you can..I have read Amy's blog and her story is very compelling. She is an extraordinary woman dealing with extraordinary suffering. Here's a bit about her story:

According to Jane at Jumpin' in the Jungle, "[Amy] is an amazing woman with a sick son who is now sick herself. She had surgery last week on 2 masses on her neck and the report is they are cancer. Her surgery was very extensive and will take months of recovery. My heart breaks for her yet at the same time I am in total awe of her and her strength. If you don't know her, please take some time to read about her...and her son, Philip....and her family."
