Tonight we gathered around the old box and settled in with Lilies of The Field. This 1963 movie starring Sydney Poitier and Lilia Skala takes us into the desert where we find Homer Smith and some down on their luck nuns. The nuns prayed for a miracle and God sent them Homer, much to his chagrin. It's a great movie, in black and white, well done, funny and entertaining. The messages of man against self and humility are well taught. My son had to read this novel for his English class and really enjoyed it. He vouches that, while some characters are combined, the movie is pretty true to the novel.
Take some time this week and share it with your family. You won't go away sad. In fact, you may even go away singing..Amen!

sounds like a great movie.
I saw this years ago and really enjoyed it. I do look forward to seeing sometime again in the near future.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! My kids all enjoyed it, as well. It supported them while reading the book, also.
I highly recommend it to those who have never seen it...highly! :)
My kids enjoyed it too. God bless the nuns in habits!
I love the "Catholic breakfast"..my kids are still talking about that one today.
