Carrying the Cross

I have discovered Catholic radio, specifically EWTN on Sirius. It it so worth it. Anyhow, listening on my way home today, to Greg Willits of The Catholics Next Door, and he was preparing to pray the Sorrowful mysteries, in particular, he was meditating on the Carrying of The Cross. Simon of Cyrene was just your average pilgrim. Probably in Jerusalem for Passover with his kids. He doesn't want to bear this cross for this guy he doesn't even know. He's from the country. Just came to celebrate. What is going on here!? Greg suggested sometimes WE are also called to carry or help shoulder anothers burden. We don't want to but we too, are pressed into service. Perhaps it makes their burden just that much easier to bear. Maybe it is a sick loved one or troubled friend or family member. God places us in the path and presses us into service. Maybe it is even someone we don't know. Who will you be Simon for today? Who will be your Simon?

How do they do it?

Spent the entire day editing with the film team for our drama group. We are putting together a show modeled off of Saturday Night Live. It's hilarious to see it come together, but man! It's hard, tedious work to edit 22 clips and add sounds, music, stills, etc. I can't wait to see the finished product. Now I understand why these movie folks get paid the big bucks. Editing is long and tough. Cut this, keep that. I hope the kids like what we've done with their work. In the meantime, my 4 are involved in a week long Missoula Children's Theater experience. Their live show is on Saturday and they've been in rehearsals for 5 hours a day since Monday. I'm exhausted. So glad to be back to the blogosphere and look forward to catching up on all your blogs!

Long Time Comin'

Wow! I feel like it's been ages since I was here and even longer since I had something worth saying. Not that I have anything worth saying, but I've missed you ol' friends. This June we will be without cable or satellite t.v. for one year. It's been a blessing in that so much useless commercialism and oversexed advertisements have been removed from our lives. However, the other day my hubby purchased a digital converter box, ya know, so he could watch the "news". I think he was getting the flippin' itch. The itch to flip. You can't quite flip with Netflix or hulu. So he's got his remote and he can flip through all 5 of the local channels. It makes him happy, unfortunately though, it has also brought the return of commercials. I don't miss them. In fact, we sat down to watch The Celebrity Apprentice last Sunday night. There were 45 minutes of commercials in a two hour show. Ridiculous. We watched it on hulu this week. Hulu does have commercials, but they are no where near the yuck factor of some on what passes for t.v. these days. So it's nice to sit and blog a bit. It's been a long time coming, as the title says. I started nosing around my old blog haunts and realized I missed it. So now that El Bambino is on a nightly schedule of sleep, I should have some time to chat with ya'll every now and then. Well, at least until September when Bambino II comes along :) God Willing. Love ya'll and I look forward to sharing my itsy bitsy life with you once more.
