Pay It Forward

Have you ever seen "Pay It Forward"? What about "Evan Almighty"? Both movies have, in their messages, the idea of passing on random acts of kindness. Have you ever done a random act of kindness? Paid some stranger's toll? Or bought a cup of coffee for the person behind you in line? Have you given away something you had to another, just because, without calling attention to yourself in the process. Please share your stories here.

And while you are sharing check out this site Random Acts of Kindness for more ideas on how you too can offer these acts of kindness in your communities.

One time years ago..probably the first time I ever did such a thing, I was in the public library. There was a momma and her little boy there. They were dressed very poorly. Momma and child even looked hungry. All of a sudden I just had to help them. I took a few dollars and asked the librarian for an envelope. Then I put the little money in it and sealed it. I asked the librarian that when the momma and child came up to check out their books would she please give the envelope to them..oh and I had put a note in it and said ..please go have some icecream or something nice with your little boy..on it..and anyway, I also asked the librarian not to say where she got this..tell the woman it was just something someone wanted to do.
So, then I stood away and kind of watched and I saw her give it to the mom and the mom smiled a little and seemed curious but I could tell she seemed happy even before she opened it. Anyway, it was the first time I ever did such a thing and am still glad I did...I should do this again soon. Thanks for causing me to remember! :)

What a great idea. I haven't ever done anything like Suzanne but I will look at your list and see if there is something I can do.

Yesterday after work, The Lord provided me with an opportunity to help a young couple by offering them a ride home. They lived on post and had no car. The young man rides his bike to work and the girl walks where she needs to go. They had splurged for a cab to come to the movies. They were such a sweet couple..with a baby on the way. It was a wonderful opportunity and I am thankful for having met them. Please keep prayers for The Rhode's as they start their new life together. Beautiful couple.
