I'd Like to Know....

What's it like to use a MAC? We have been thinking of jumping ship from Microsoft, but I have a great fear of drowning in Apples. I know there are some MAC users who peruse my blog so if you are out there, leave a comment and let me know why I should join the MAC world, or why I should just stick with Bill.
Thanks!

I would like a Mac also. Just could not afford one when I bought my laptop.
Sorry you could not be home for Thanksgiving. It is such an important day to me. Hope you still had an amazing one with your husband and kids.

Dawn,
Since I'm in printing and graphic design, I've been using Macs for years and I won't go back. I still have to use a PC (my wife's laptop) from time to time, but I hate it.

The Mac is more stable, more user friendly, is less prone to viruses crashes and freezes, and is a lot more fun, imho.

We are die hard Mac users in this household. One of our Macs can be booted into Windows for the very few apps we own that are not Mac compatible. We LOVE our Macs. They are very straight forward and user friendly. All 6 of our kids are able to navigate on our Macs with very little assistance. They very rarely crash.

My hubby has to use Windows for work. He is constantly complaining about how difficult it is to use and is very often frustrated with the whole setup. He is incredibly computer savvy and has even written code for Windows and so he really does know what he is talking about. He was able to talk work into purchasing all Mac laptops, but they still have to run Windows for many of their work applications.

You can do it. Come to the Mac side of life!

PS You can talk to my hubby about it, if you'd like. He advises many folks on their computer purchases.

I'd like to make the switch. Mircrosoft has a knack for pissing me off. And, I don't generally know what I'm talking about. ;)

I've jumped shipped! Although I didn't get a mac or a new computer!! DH took our computers totally wiped them clean and loaded LINUX on them! I'm loving it and so glad that I jumped ship! (Linux is FREE) I also have a whole bunch of free software like, Open Office, I have games, (including educational for the kids). Many of the programs I have will not work on Linux, but I have found FREE software via Linux that is comparable. So I'm okay! Things like my palm, camera, still work on/with Linux. (because I have loaded the compatible free software.)

There are several different versions of Linux. The version we have is Ubuntu

The only drawback we are having is our printer isn't compatible, but printers are not that expensive, so worst case for us has been we have to get a new printer.

As for using Linux/Ubuntu compare to Microsoft. Well it's different. I took me several moments to adjust and there are still some adjustments. However, there are things that I used before that are the same. For example my web-broswer before was Firefox and I'm using Firefox now, there was no difference for me on that. It's the same browser and it acts the same, and seeing 80% of my PC time is spent on the Internet, this has been a seamless transition.
