The Way, The Truth, The Life & Wipeout

Father gave a good reflection at Wednesday's daily Mass. He spoke about Jesus being The Way, The Truth and The Life. He said if we follow the Way of Christ we learn to live in Truth, to stop deceiving ourselves, and thus gain eternal life. However! Satan does his best to push us from The Way so that we never learn the Truth and hopefully do not gain eternal life.

Later that evening, at Adoration, I was thinking about Father's words. The show Wipeout came to my mind. I almost laughed out loud! I thought this is exactly what happens to me!

If you have never seen Wipeout, a quick summary: Contestants vie for a cash prize as they work their way along a treacherous obstacle course.

The last episode had the contestants running along a seemingly benign foam runway when *WHAMO!!** the end of the track flips up and sends the competitor flying into the waters below. Hilarious to watch, but it really hit home with me and this reflection. All the contestants on the show seem shocked when they are tossed off the way so easily and completely. Yet, they make the swim and climb back on the course and try again. The one who wins has been able to hold on along the way. But not without struggle!

Just like Father was saying..we are imperfect..we have all the wonderful intentions of following Christ's Way. We WANT to live in Truth and earn Eternal Life with Him in Heaven. It's the ultimate prize! Yet, so often we encounter obstacles along the way that knock us off the path and we have to work even harder to get back on track.

So, who says T.V is all bad! Maybe there are some good lessons even in the disastrous falls and shocking body shots of Wipeout!

Touring

Took the hospital tour yesterday. It's good to know how to get where we need to be when the time comes. Hubby wanted to make sure we reviewed all the ways to get to the 3rd floor! :) It's a beautiful hospital. Catholic. Blessed MOther and baby Jesus everywhere. It is a comforting environment and the nurses on Labor and delivery seem very nice.

Just a few more weeks to go. Just being in that delivery room was strange. Had flashbacks.

I have such a wonderful support group here. Some of the finest women I've ever met. I can't wait to share this little one with them. With all of you too. Yesterday he was very active. I don't think he stopped moving all day. The girls love to watch him move in my tummy. To press their cheeks to me and feel him move. They are always amazed :)

The New ATV

This was a gift at my shower. I was overwhelmed! It was one hubby and I had been looking at and I love it because of it's versatility.

Even the oldest volunteered to push little one around. He put it together and promplty plugged his Ipod into the mp3 speakers and strolled around the house in a mock run..Oh brother!

Middle son (now 14 and 6' 3/4") took a turn..not pushing it..sitting in it! I had to chase him out! Good thing is, the tires held :) I wish I'd snapped a picture.

The regression has started early. Mr. Pinch (youngest girl) asked if she could try out the crib!

The Final Countdown

Construction is almost finished! We've got to get chair rail in tomorrow and then we can start moving in baby stuff and then, of course, baby.

It's still a strange feeling when I open that door and see a crib in there. I want to ask "Whose house is this again?"

Almost There!

In more ways than one. The babies room is just about ready for furniture. I've purchased a crib

and just picked up the mattress today. Still no bedding, one thing at a time. :) I've still got some time.

I need a dresser or something to store clothing. We are working on that right now..not sure what we want to do for storage. It's been such a long time since I went baby shopping. It's absolutely overwhelming! I've picked up things here and there for family members and friends, but I haven't set up a nursery in over 10 years! I get exhausted just walking through the doors at these baby store warehouses.

I'm anxiously awaiting the birth of Leo, over at A Half-dozen Productions. Should be any day now!

Just found out another good friend is expecting. It's nice to be among these women who are such wonderful mom's. They are font's of knowledge and advice.

I'll take some pics of the nursery once it's put together. Or at least, as put together as I can get it. We still have to finish up some painting of the trim and molding and get the door on.

I can't wait to meet his little guy.

Prom Time

The annual homeschool prom is coming up in March. My son, who has a girlfriend to take this year, really wants to go.

Hubby says boys shouldn't go to prom until their Senior Year. If at all. I say, I went twice. Junior and Senior.

Hubby says he should pay for his tux. I say that's parents responsibility.

Hubby says Prom=nonsense. I say Prom=fun. Fond memories. It makes me smile.

Son says "So? Can I go?"

It's not cheap. Tickets are just over half a Ben Franklin for a couple. Plus transportation, tux rental. It's tight around here these days.

Hubby shakes his head and sighs. "What's the big deal?"
I sigh and think of the awesome pictures of my son all dressed up in a Tuxedo with a pretty girl on his arm. The fun of picking a corsage. ***sigh***

Secretly, Between you and me..I think he's going.

Back in Cyber Space Under Construction

For the last week our internet access has been hit and miss. We finally got access tonight around 6:30 pm! Hallelujah!

The little babe on my sidebar is due in roughly 62 days and we needed a spot to put him. I'm a believer that after 2-3 mos they get their own room, own bed, etc. So, we started trying to plan this out. We have 5 possible bedrooms here, and thought that we might move the oldest boy down to the "spare room". I wasn't a real fan of that because it's sort of our "workout" room right now and I'm not a fan of the kids living downstairs.

So we started looking at how to make it work. Well our bedroom is some 44ft long and almost as wide. There's this little punch out "sitting room" thing that we never use and have talked about walling in. That's what we've done. Here are some pics of the progress. We still have to paint the walls and get the door painted. Buy some baby furniture and get it set up. It's almost done! Painting will be done next weekend when it's warmer here. When Baby gets too big to be "in our room" then we'll rearrange the other kids and turn the new room into our workout room/office or something..but for now it works and adds a possible 6Th bedroom to the house. It's a 9X13 space. Not bad, and we walled it in for under $300!
